China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) has embarked on a billion-dollar scale carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) project that, when fully completed, would be the country’s largest such facility and integrated with enhanced oil recovery (EOR) at the country’s largest Changqing oil/gas field. The project — projected at 10.2 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) — would be implemented over three phases by CNPC jointly with Ningxia Coal Industry Co. (NCI) and the Ningxia local chemicals industry authority, said CNPC on its news portal.
