  • Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has spent the last month making sweeping promises to US oil producers, and they seem to be listening.

  • At the same time, the US is hitting record levels of oil production under incumbent President Joe Biden, whose climate-forward administration is struggling with how — or whether — to broadcast that milestone.

  • The reality is that whoever sits in the White House has a limited set of levers for boosting oil and gas production, but Biden’s January decision to halt new LNG export approvals is seen pushing oil executives toward Trump.
