Airlines will be required to cut their carbon emissions by 10% from 2027 levels by 2037, opening the door to a likely SAF blending mandate. The bill also includes plans for much higher ethanol and biodiesel blending ratios for commercial gasoline and diesel. Brazil made 35.4 billion liters of ethanol last year, mainly from sugarcane, plus 7.5 billion liters of biodiesel.
