A Canadian start-up, Aeon Blue, says it has found a way to generate e-fuels from wind and seawater in an integrated process that combines the production of green hydrogen and carbon capture into one plant — slashing the cost of both. Founded by a sibling duo, the company has prototypically proven the technology at the core of the process, with a commercial facility slated to go on line in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, in 2027. By the early 2030s, they hope to achieve cost parity with traditional fossil fuels, while also slashing the price of direct air capture, the CO2 capture method used by Aeon.
